Chocolate Cake - Mmm... Let The Baking Begin!

Anybody can bake this cake - I promise! No special skills required! Easy- breezy!

I am about to present a traditional and absolutely beloved in Poland chocolate cake recipe. Poles bake it for holidays, or for no occasion at all. My mom bakes it, and my brother (yes, my brother!), and my cousins, and my aunts... Everybody knows it. My father bakes it usually on Saturdays, and the cake is all gone by Sunday afternoon! As a kid I used to eat it still warm...

You will need only a few ingredients, but the results will be absolutely fantastic.

Ingredients

Here it is: a basic, classic and proven by generations recipe for a heavenly delicious Polish Style Chocolate Bundt Cake. Always successful!

- 1 cup of margarine

- 1.5 cup of milk

- 1.5 cups of sugar

- 5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa

- 2 cups of flour

- 4 eggs

- 2 teaspoons baking powder

- 1 cake flavoring, such as vanilla or rum

Version #1 (with icing):

In a medium saucepan, bring margarine to boil, add milk, sugar and cocoa. Cook it for a minute, until it becomes a nice and thick custard. Take about 2/3 cup of this delicious custard, and put aside (this will be your icing!), pour the rest into a bowl. Add flour, eggs, baking powder and cake flavoring. Mix well. Preheat your oven to 350 F (180 C). Pour the cake batter onto a bundt cake pan (you can throw in some nuts, if you'd like). Bake for about 50 minutes. Let your cake chill for a bit, and then pour or drizzle the icing on top.

Version #2 (without icing):

In a medium saucepan, bring margarine to boil, add milk, sugar and cocoa. Cook it for a minute, until it becomes a nice and thick custard. Pour it into a bowl. Add flour, eggs, baking powder and cake flavoring. Mix well. Preheat your oven to 350 F (180 C). Pour the cake batter onto a bundt cake pan (you can throw in some nuts, if you'd like). Bake for about 50 minutes, let it chill for a few minutes, then sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Enjoy! The cake will be really great served with fresh strawberries and vanilla ice cream!
